The Club

A sporting heritage since 1881

Founded in 1881 in the 14th arrondissement, En Avant! de Paris is one of the oldest and most prestigious clubs in France. Born in a post-war context, with the support of the Ministry of War, it was conceived as a structure for collective physical training.

A pioneer in the sports landscape, it is the first club in Paris and the first club in the Île-de-France region to be affiliated with the French Gymnastics Federation (FFGym). True to its values of openness, En Avant! de Paris is today recognized as an inclusive club, where gymnastics is accessible to all.

Missions & Values

En Avant! de Paris stands out for its dual mission: encouraging gymnastics performance while ensuring the gymnasts' well-being and academic and personal balance. Coaches collaborate with families to ensure a balance between athletic rigor and academic success.

Creation of the club by 8 gymnasts, in the 14th arrondissement.

Inauguration of the Huyghens gymnasium, built with metal porticos from the 1889 Universal Exhibition.

Opening of a women's section, pioneering in gymnastics, athletics, fencing, swimming, and even women's football.

Difficulties linked to the two wars, maintenance of activity and expansion of sport (basketball, volleyball, handball).

The club refocused on gymnastics and saw a list of champions emerge.

Permanent expansion of the offer: competitive and recreational gymnastics, all ages combined, with social actions for families on low incomes.

En Avant! De Paris has become an inclusive club by signing up to the national “Inclusive Club” program – run by the French Paralympic and Sports Committee.
